Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485)

About this visa
The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) lets you live, study and work in Australia temporarily after you have finished your studies. Students are only able to access the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) once as a primary applicant.
This visa has two streams:
•Graduate Work stream – for international students with an eligible qualification who graduate with skills and qualifications that relate to an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). A visa in this stream is granted for 18 months from the date of grant.
•Post-Study Work stream – for international students who graduate with a higher education degree from an Australian education provider, regardless of their field of study. This stream is only available to students who applied for, and were granted, their first student visa to Australia on or after 5 November 2011. A visa in this stream can be granted for up to four years from the date the visa is granted, depending on the visa applicant’s qualification.
If you are applying as the main applicant, you and anybody else covered by the application must be in Australia when you apply for this visa and when your visa is decided.
Family members who apply for this visa after the main applicant has been granted the visa may be in or outside Australia when they apply, but must not be in immigration clearance.

Requirements:
Supporting evidence must be provided at the time you lodge your application. Requirements for this visa include:
•you must be younger than 50 years of age
•you must hold an eligible visa
•you must have included in your application evidence that you have at least competent English
•you must meet the Australian study requirement in the last six months
•you must meet health and character requirements
•you must have health insurance in Australia
•you must meet the specific requirements of the stream in which you are applying for this visa.

How to apply:
This information explains what you need to do to apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).
You and anyone included in your application must be in Australia when you apply and when a decision on the application is made.
You and anyone else included in your application who have turned 18 at the time of application, must sign an Australian Values Statement to confirm that you will respect the Australian way of life and obey Australian laws. The statement is included in the visa application form. You must read, or had explained to you, the Life in Australia book before you sign the statement.

Lodge your application online
You can apply for this visa online using:
•Application for a Temporary Graduate or Skilled Regional visa
Provide all relevant documents and pay the visa application charge when you apply.
You must upload all your documents directly to the online system. Do not send copies of documents as attachments by email, fax, mail or any other way. If you are not able to update your information using our online services, please contact the relevant Temporary Graduate Processing Centre:
